Like most things, however, choosing the right firm for your kitchen or bathroom remodeling project is a lot easier than it seems, once you're armed with the right answers. The only way to find who's got the right answers, is to ask the right questions. Here are 3 important questions any reputable remodeling firm should be able to answer to your satisfaction, before you consider them for the contract:
Seeing is believing. Any firm worth their salt should be able to provide you with a few of examples of their work, and a list of references from previous clients. When you examine their work, look for signs of corners that have been cut, craftsmanship flaws, and pay attention to the general quality of the work. If you don't think you are knowledgeable enough to appraise their work, bring someone along with you who is.
Are Your Workers Properly Licensed, Bonded, and Insured?
You stand to lose a lot by going with a fly-by-night crew to handle your kitchen or bathroom remodel. Not only is there little guarantee of workmanship, these outfits are notorious for cutting bureaucratic corners that have been put into place for the protection of consumers and workers alike.
Make sure that your chosen candidate has all of the proper insurance in place to cover workmanship issues and worker injuries. Otherwise, you could be left holding a very expensive bag!
Are You Involved in the Flooring Industry as a Whole?
Ok, this is more like a series of questions summed up, than it is an actual question. What you are trying to ascertain is the level of industry association and recognition the company in question has received. Which is to say, you are trying to figure out if they are members of any industry organizations, or whether or not they have received awards for excellence in their field.
