A trend is something that’s been researched, analyzed, has a proven track record, and is updated to match the current times, which is also researched and analyzed thoroughly.
Sometimes in the updating, a trend can come back in style, such as shag pile carpets; the color palette was updated in the early 2000s, so now there are a lot more hues than the golds, greens and browns that we remember from the 1970s.
Retro: A Big Come Back
We talk at length about classic, traditional and contemporary styles, but what about retro? It’s all the rage right now, and it can be charming and playful. It utilizes fun colors, bold patterns and vintage pieces.
Many of us have heard the design battle cry, “design from the floor up.” So put down the floor first, and then add the wall color and accessories. For the kitchen floor, you can get some laminate in some pretty funky, memory-inducing patterns, like checkerboards to make it look like a vintage diner; or you can install some white hexagonal tiles for your bathroom remodel.
Speaking of colors, how about something from the 1950s, like pink and black tiles run halfway up the wall in your bathroom remodeling, Orange Beach?
When you’re remodeling the kitchen, don’t forget about the countertops, Deltona, FL. Laminate works here, too, and you can get them in some pretty funky patterns and, like a wood-look floor, a stainless steel countertop will also go with anything. Add some red accents, like stools, stainless steel lighting or Coca-Cola signs, and voila!
