Remodeling isn’t always synonymous with a layout change. Any remodel can be pricey, whether it’s for the kitchen, and you might be surprised of the expenses incurred by the bathroom, already a small room.
Remember, when you don’t do a layout change, it means you keep certain major systems in place, such as gas, plumbing or electrical, which can be a real money-saver.Still undecided? Think about:
● Your true goal and what inspired it. Is a larger, brighter space something that would appeal to your sense of aesthetics, or is it something that’s needed to make the room more functional?
The answer to that question will tell you a lot. On one hand, you can make a room look larger with just some simple changes of walls or ceilings, such as adding different light fixtures, or a new window, or glass cabinet fronts and extra storage, etc.
It’s also important to remember that you can “steal” space from adjacent areas to open the room up a bit; this holds true especially for remodeling the bathroom, Orange Beach. In fact, we know someone who converted a small room next to the bathroom into a storage space for towels, soaps and shampoos; it really has become part of the space, just not in the room, but next to it.
On the other hand, if selling the house is in your near future, you might want to think about increasing the house’s value.
● Budget. Look at the big picture, because very often the addition of a new item can add expense to another, existing one. For instance, certain appliances could require changes in the subflooring, or even electrical wiring or outlets, to meet their installation requirements.
