The year is almost over and savvy homeowners with plans to renovate, are already looking ahead to the coming trends of 2019. Last year we saw the rise of Greige, increased interest toward more modern looks, and, paradoxically, a general movement toward the rustic. Apparently, the jury is still out on that!
As interesting as the last year has been, from an interior design perspective, it's time to put it all in the past, and look ahead to what is coming. Here are some up-and-coming kitchen and bathroom remodeling trends that our designers have their eye on for the coming year.
Clean Lines in the Bathroom
Keeping it uncomplicated in the bathroom is going to be the next big thing. The bathroom is a place of relaxation and reflection. Clean, uncomplicated lines allow your eyes to relax, and promote a more tranquil atmosphere. It also serves a functional purpose, by making cleanup and maintenance of the bathroom more efficient.
Cabinets Without Handles in the Kitchen
In keeping with the growing trend toward more minimalistic designs in both kitchen and bathroom renovation projects, people are starting to opt for cabinets that are free of embellishment and handles. This doesn't mean that the cabinets can't be opened, mind you. That would be silly!
No, you should expect to see lots of new cabinets out there with alternative means of access, such as indentations below the lip of the doors, and drawers or push-and-pop style mechanisms.
Spanish and Moroccan Tiles All Around!
Tile has always been a popular choice in the bathroom and for kitchen backsplashes, but usually in more low-key designs and styles. With the current trend toward minimalist design, people are scrambling for Moroccan and Spanish tiles, because they are the perfect way to add a little POP, and stave off the visual boredom that is the hallmark of bad minimalist design. Minimalism only works if there are striking accents to contrast the overall aesthetic. These tiles do that perfectly. Get ready to see a lot of kitchen and bathroom remodeling projects using these vibrant tiles in the coming year.
